Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then found many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for tips.
An important representative commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
